Machelle Harris, executive director at Life Care Center of Reno, Nevada, received Life Care Centers of America’s Chairman’s Award, the highest award an associate can receive, on Aug. 24, 2015.
The presentation took place during Life Care’s annual awards banquet, held at the corporate offices in Cleveland, Tennessee. Forrest Preston, chairman and founder of Life Care; Beecher Hunter, Life Care president; and Bart Walker, senior vice president of operations, presented Harris with a crystal obelisk commemorating the award.
“Machelle joins a prestigious group of winners of the Chairman’s Award, since only one recipient per year is chosen,” said Hunter. “Her leadership of Life Care Center of Reno enables the staff to achieve outstanding results in clinical outcomes and exceptional customer service. Her compassion for people is reflected in everything she does.”
Harris, a registered nurse, was praised for leading her facility to provide excellent care for residents and patients, as evidenced by positive state survey (health inspection) results and a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
She emphasizes strong staff development and mentors her associates to lead effectively in whatever role they serve. She also mentors other executive directors in the region.
“Machelle is consistent, and she truly creates a culture of accountability that’s fun,” said Matt Ham, vice president of Life Care’s Southwest Division, which oversees facilities in Arizona, Nevada and California. “People want to work for her, and anything that she touches grows.”
“I love to help grow people,” said Harris. “We all work so hard as a team, together, and our facility couldn’t have the results it has without them.”
The Chairman’s Award is presented annually to the leader of an overall successful facility or organization whose outstanding performance demands recognition.
